Senior Support Worker Job Description
The Senior Support Worker in Didcot reports to the Supervisor, Area Manager, and Managing Director, supporting the management team in overseeing care delivery, supervising support staff, and ensuring the highest standards of service are maintained. This role involves a balance of direct care responsibilities and leadership duties, including mentoring team members, monitoring care plans, and promoting the dignity, independence, and wellbeing of all Service Users.
Rates of Pay
Training: £12.50 per hour
Travel Time: £12.50 per hour
Probationary Period:
Weekdays: £14.00 per hour
Weekends: £15.50 per hour
Bank Holidays: £19.00 per hour (including Christmas, Boxing Day, and New Year’s Day)
Post-Probation:
Weekdays: £14.50 per hour
Weekends: £16.00 per hour
Bank Holidays: £19.00 per hour (including Christmas, Boxing Day, and New Year’s Day)

Additional Responsibilities
In addition to the responsibilities and duties defined as a Support Worker, a Senior Support Worker may be required to perform the following tasks in the community:
Service User Reviews
Contact and visit service users to carry out reviews.
Ensure review questionnaires are completed and returned to the office.
Verify that all paperwork in service users’ files is completed and up to date, and care plans are accurate. Remove and replace used forms as needed and address any errors with the concerned support workers.
Report any concerns regarding service users or support workers to the Supervisor, Area Manager, or Managing Director.
New Service User Assessments:
Visit new service users for assessments and deliver their files as requested.
Ensure service users are aware of policies and procedures and obtain required signatures on contracts and other documentation.
Supervision of Support Workers:
Participate in and support the supervision of support workers.
Join regular team meetings or individual meetings to review care concerns, discuss service users' requirements, and update support workers on administrative and policy matters.
Discuss the outcomes of these meetings with the Supervisor, Area Manager, or Managing Director as required.
Spot-Check Visits:
Conduct unannounced supervisory and audit visits at service users' homes, record the outcomes, and return the forms to the office.
Work-Shadowing and Training:
Participate in work-shadowing and help integrate support workers into their new environment.
Train new support workers in all mandatory fields.
Undertake a course as a Champion in a specific field as decided by the company.
Supervise or assess new staff during their induction and shadowing period, liaising with the Supervisor, Area Manager, or Managing Director.
Quality Assurance and Audits:
Participate in quality assurance reviews and other audit and regulatory initiatives as directed by management.
Deputising for Supervisor or Area Manager:
Deputise for the Supervisor or Area Manager in their absence and take the on-call phone when required.
Equipment and Protective Clothing:
Ensure service users and support workers have the necessary equipment and protective clothing for all tasks.
Medication Administration Records (MAR):
Transcribe MAR charts and place them in service users' files monthly or when new medication is prescribed.
Other Duties:
Perform other duties as may reasonably be required.
Person Specification — Essential Criteria
To be considered for the role of Senior Support Worker, you will need to demonstrate the following:
Qualifications:
- A Level 3 qualification in Health and Social Care is preferable for a senior position at Care with Dignity.
Skills & Attributes:
- Self-motivated and well-organised.
- Flexible, with availability for evenings and alternate weekends.
- Caring and sensitive to the needs of others, particularly the sick, elderly, or vulnerable.
- A strong team player, but also able to work independently and take initiative.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Must hold a full UK driving license.

- Uphold confidentiality in all aspects of work, respecting sensitive information at all times.
- Adhere to the requirements set out in the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR 2018).
- Comply with responsibilities under the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974.
