Job Description

The position is part office-based and part community-based, setting high standards of care while working with Service users and the team. We have a full-time Area Manager role available here at Care with Dignity where you can make a positive difference. Person Specifications

Person Specification

A level 3 qualification in Health and Social Care is required for a senior position at Care with Dignity and a willingness to undertake a level 5 qualification is required for this position. The following personal and professional attributes are considered essential to the post of Area Manager:

All staff must respect the requirements set out in the General Data Protection Regulations 2018. Esure that they are aware of their responsibilities under the Health and Safety at Work, etc. Act 1974.

All staff must also ensure that they read and abide by the code of conduct, Code of Practice of both the United Kingdom Home Care Association (UKHCA) and the General Social Care Council (GSCC).

Responsibilities

In addition to the responsibilities and duties defined as a Support worker, an Area Manager may be called upon to conduct the following duties:

  • Contact and visit Service users as directed by the organisation to carry out Service user reviews and quality assurance:
    • Ensure reviews and questionnaires are completed and returned to the office for filing.
    • Ensure all paperwork in the Service users’ file has been completed and Service user information is recorded in line with company policy. Ensure all files have spare paperwork and Care Plans are up to date. Check that all forms are being completed correctly. Remove and replace used forms as required. When errors are observed, to record copies of relevant Service user forms to discuss with the Support Worker(s) concerned.
    • Monitor work standards of Support workers by undertaking spot checks.
    • Report on Service user visits, noting any concerns regarding Service users or Support workers, to the Managing Director.
  • Visit new Service users for assessments and take in Service user files where requested. Ensure that the Service user is aware of policies and procedures. Obtain signatures on contracts and other documentation as required. Remove Service user’s files on end of Service and return to the office.
  • To participate in, and generally support, the supervision of Support workers as required.

  • To join or lead regular team meetings/forums or individual meetings or supervisions, to review any individual care concerns, discuss Service users’ requirements and update Support workers on administrative and policy matters. To record and return minutes of these meetings and discuss the outcome of such meetings with the Managing Director as and when required.
  • To conduct and participate in unannounced supervisory and audit visits at Service users’ homes, to record the outcomes of these visits on the appropriate forms and to return such forms to the office.
  • To participate in work-shadowing and the integration of Support workers into their new
  • working environment and train them in all mandatory fields inhouse. To undertake a course as a Champion in a specific field decided upon by the Managing Director that will meet the needs of the organisation. To liaise with the Managing Director in supervising or assessing new members of staff during their initial induction, shadowing period and personal development.
  • To participate in audit and control initiatives as directed.
  • To deputise for the Managing Director in the event of her absence from work and take the on-call phone when required.
  • To ensure all Service users and Support workers have equipment and protective clothing readily available for all tasks. To perform risk assessments to ensure control measures are in place for the safety of our Service users and employees.
  • To Transcribe MAR charts and place in Service user files on a monthly basis or when new medication is prescribed.
  • To assist with office/administrative duties including scheduling rotas, invoicing, writing care plans.
  • To liaise with Service users, their family or other healthcare professionals to meet the needs of the Service user or the organisation. To make referrals regarding the safety and wellbeing of all.
